Hi, and welcome back to That Jorvik Viking Thing podcast. I'm your host, Miranda Schmeiderer. In Viking times, a thing was a gathering, a place where leaders and warriors could meet and talk. In the 21st century, our thing is a virtual place where Viking academics and enthusiasts from around the world can come together to share knowledge. You might have heard season one, and if you haven't, now's your time to catch up! For season two, we're taking a deep dive into the Coppergate dig, the groundbreaking dig that captured the attention of royalty, academics and the public alike. Each episode will take a look at an aspect of the Coppergate dig, from the history of the dig itself, to the remarkable artefacts that were uncovered there. We'll speak to Viking era experts, including some of our own Viking interpreters from here at the Jorvik Viking Centre.
